We all reach a time in life where we must make a vital decision: Where should I live? And there are many factors that come into play. The type of housing, location, size, investment and loans are just some of the elements to consider.
However, looking for a new home is an exciting adventure that should be enjoyed. Do not get overwhelmed and allow yourself to evaluate the following pros and cons of living in the city or in the outskirts, to take the first steps towards this important decision.
The City
Living in the city is perfect for those people who have a high work focus, if your job is your life engine, finding a home near the most popular cities can be a good idea, as it will give you greater access to transportation and employment opportunities.
Connectivity is one of the main advantages of living in an urban center, since in theory they offer greater comforts such as infrastructure, internet, etc.
However, it is important to remember that in a country like Costa Rica, living in the city also means taking into account elements such as traffic, which will depend on the time of day. For this reason it is recommended to live near your study or work center, so that the time spent traveling is not a problem.
On the other hand, social life in the city is a plus. With a greater concentration of people, the offer in cultural and leisure activities increases, compared to rural areas. You will be more exposed to cinemas, museums, concerts, restaurants, among others, which gives you a wider range of entertainment activities.
The country
In Costa Rica, rural areas can be mountainous sites or coastal areas. Of course, each one has different activities, as well as climatic conditions and others. But the two share the relaxation of less busy and frantic environments.
Living in the outskirts allows you to have a more leisurely and conscious lifestyle, mainly because of the connection with nature.
This point is vital if you are looking for this kind of life, living outside the city also has great physical benefits, such as the opportunity to breathe fresh air. It may seem insignificant, but fresh air is a privilege which is lost with the increase in environmental pollution.
In addition, in the countryside and in the beach you can enjoy interpersonal relationships very different from those in the city. It is usual that in the rural areas the neighbors are good friends, there are more attractive views, less accelerated activities, etc.
Each option has points that you should evaluate according to your needs and your tastes. You might prefer the countryside and decide that the proximity to the center is not so vital in your case, or you may decide to live in the city as long as you can “get away” on weekends to the mountains or the sea.
Find a balance and look for what most fills your life and makes you happy, that will always be the main thing in every life decision.
