The story of Casa Tassara began long before its construction, with the arrival of patriarch Luigi Tassara Capurro from Genoa, Italy. A merchant and hotelier, Luigi built his life in Costa Rica, where he met Carolina Goldoni Negrini, also an Italian immigrant. Together, they founded a family that would, years later, leave an indelible mark on Moravia. Inspired by his roots and the vision of a home for his three daughters—Bytty Tassara, Jeanette Tassara, and Astrid Tassara—Jorge Tassara designed this majestic house, which still retains its original charm.

Beyond its architectural value, Casa Tassara is a tribute to art and creativity. One of its current owners, Bytty Tassara, has transformed her home into a sanctuary of artistic expression. A painter, writer, and sculptor, Bytty has created a unique collection of wooden ships and has participated in both local and national art exhibitions. In the past, this very house hosted one of the largest artistic exhibitions in Moravia, with an attendance of 70 to 80 people.

The walls of Casa Tassara have also witnessed countless art classes taught by Bytty, turning this space into a living workshop where past and present converse through painting, poetry, and sculpture.

Casa Tassara does not go unnoticed by those walking through Barrio Saprissa. Its classic architecture, combined with elements that reflect its Italian heritage and local history, is a point of interest that attracts both locals and visitors. Many stop to admire its façade and reflect on the stories hidden within its walls, making it an emblem of Moravia and a reminder of the importance of preserving cultural heritage.

Although it was once on the verge of being declared a national heritage site, sisters Bytty and Jeanette Tassara, the current owners, decided to keep it under the family name. This decision reflects their deep connection to the house and their commitment to preserving not just the structure but also the memories and art it holds.
