Adaptive Crossfit: a lifestyle
Adaptive Crossfit represents a unique opportunity for everyone. This inclusive sport allows people with permanent disabilities to stay healthy and focused on getting the best out of themselves. The most important thing when practicing adaptive CrossFit is to find the right category for each person and thus be able to compete fairly.
In this interview, Amalia tells us how her passion for sports was present from a very early age as she has practiced several sports throughout her life.
However, her life completely changed when she was diagnosed with a progressive degenerative condition, but her love for sports did not. Thanks to adaptive CrossFit, she has had the opportunity to pursue her passion despite the circumstances.
Amalia has won worldwide in the most prestigious CrossFit competitions: Wodapalooza and CrossFit Games, with the title of Fittest on earth, besides being twice world champion in the Wheelwod games. All of the above makes her the greatest exponent of this sport in our country!
Interior design and professional life
In addition to being a world-renowned athlete, Amalia works as an interior designer. This passion came later in her life, but it is equally important.
Amalia mentions how she applies the discipline, commitment and responsibility learn in CrossFit when designing and working on a project. She sees it as an equally valuable achievement to deliver the client a well-applied design according to their needs or tastes.
On the other hand, her favorite design style is contemporary, but as a professional, she knows the importance of adjusting to the needs of each client. For this reason, Amalia has worked in wide-ranging styles and interior spaces, such as homes, beach houses, restaurants, offices, and even a mobile home.

Training and Work Life
Amalia’s weekly training consists of 2 daily sessions of 2 hours each, six days per week. These are daily workouts, with only one day off, combining the athlete’s lifestyle with her professional life.
The management of time and tasks is necessary. Amalia advises people who wish to follow several passions or interests at a professional level, to set clear goals and priorities to keep in mind the importance that each of these tasks has in their life. This way, they can maintain the motivation to achieve a balance between lifestyle and health.
Time management for both parts of her life is essential, but it is also important to consider the location and mobility between the two. Amalia lives, trains, and works in Santa Ana. She mentions that thanks to the area where she lives, it is easy for her to get to her training center and design projects.
Many of her projects are located in Santa Ana and surrounding areas, such as Escazú, Ciudad Colón, and Lindora.
