The end of the year comes with an air of hope, especially in this 2020 which has been a challenge for everyone in different areas. And that’s why good news are savored more than ever before! Christmas is a time to get together as a family, reflect on the experiences lived during the year and rest a little to recharge energías for the upcoming new year. Of course, due to the global situation, we will have to celebrate the holidays with new measures: hygiene and safety protocols, social distancing, etc. But this does not mean that we cannot celebrate. On the contrary, we invite you to learn about some of the proposals that the Municipality of Moravia has organized to bring joy to these days and that even from home ,you can join the Christmas spirit.

Christmas Activities

If you are a neighbor of Moravia and its surroundings, do not miss the following activities to celebrate the holidays with the family safe from home.

For the fifth year in a row the municipality has organized the Moravian Christmas Festival: Music, Light and Color. Of course, in 2020 they had to reinvent themselves and that is how the “Caravana” edition of this joyous festival was born.

In previous years the festival has been full of good vibes, with a parade with live bands, artistic shows, dances, food sales and since it is not recommended to leave your social bubble, the municipality brings the party to your home!

These are the important dates according to the route of the Caravana, so that you are aware.

Friday 11: San Jerónimo

Saturday 12: La Trinidad

Sunday 13: San Vicente

One of the scheduled activities is the storytelling session by the Municipality’s Office for the Elderly. In it, several of the older adults of the community will meet online to present their original stories!

It will be an afternoon of pure talent without a doubt, an initiative of great merit, by making it clear that the contributions of our golden citizens are extremely valuable. What better time to remember that than Christmas!

Although the Story Telling Afternoon will be broadcasted on Facebook Live on Wednesday, December 9 at 3:00 p.m.
The same will be available for later as well, in case you want to Watch it at another time.

Also topics about coliving, interpersonal relationships and intra-family communication are of great relevance in these times. The Office for Children and Adolescents of the Municipality of Moravia held a live chat with clinical psychologist Melissa Céspedes. The recording was saved and you can access the video here.

In it, Céspedes sepas about temes such as the access to and leakage of information that young people have from their homes, to ensure that they are aware of the situation but not from a stressful or negative perspective. How to create communication and other leisure spaces, how to establish rules for everyone at home, ideas for gifts that really contribute and that are not just whims, etc.

We know that we are facing a new reality and that 2020 has been hard for everyone, but we hope that with these and other activities you can take a break and enjoy as a family, just like you deserve after a year of hard work and unexpected changes. May Christmas be a time of peace for you and your family, as well as a time of joy and hope.
