According to the anual ranking of International Living-com, Costa Rica is the best destination for retirees in 2021! Above countries like Mexico, Portugal and Panama; Costa Rica came in first place according to the Global Retirement Index; which exist since 1979.

The evaluation of each of the countries is made according to multiple variables, among which are;

  • Benefits or facilities for foreigners

  • Climate
  • Health Care

The rating is based on the feedback of retirees living in each country. It also includes opportunities and cost of living in the country as well as its government.

This year, our country obtained a score of 85.2; ranking first on the list, followed by Panama with 84.4 in second place and Mexico in third with 83.5. Other high-scoring countries were Colombia, Portugal, Ecuador and Malaysia.

One of the arguments in favor to place Costa Rica in the first place is that the country offers a simple lifestyle and the possibility of having a sustainable cost of living.

Retired residents have said the country offers an stress-free, healthier and much happier life.
