Despite the circumstances that the world is living with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is our duty as Costa Ricans to help us reactivate our economy. Much of it is national tourism, and if you have the possibility of doing a little of this in times of COVID, we have put together some tips so that you can contribute your bit to our beloved Costa Rica!

1. Proper Equipment & Follow the Rules

It is extremely important that you always have your alcohol gel on hand, if possible a gallon with soap and water. The latter is in case there is no place to wash your hands, for example if you are walking on the beach or hiking in the mountains. You must also wear your mask at all times, as required by law. Depending on where you walk, they allow you to remove them within the area that you are going to occupy. Inside parks they always ask for a distance between bubbles and do not allow them to socialize with each other. Remember that you can take care and enjoy as a family!

2. Find the Appropriate Option

Depending on where you want to go: be it mountain or beach. You should keep in mind that most places that require admission and reservations are receiving less than their usual full capacity. Therefore, we recommend you plan this tour in advance and make your reservation in advance. Also take into account the following factors: popularity of the place (in case it always fills up a lot, then book with more time before) and its prevention measures (if you are obeying the orders of the government or not). If your family plans to go camping or go to a hostel, we recommend bringing your own kitchen and your own utensils. In order not to use those that are in common kitchen areas that can increase the probability of risk.

3. Prevention on The Way Home

When you and your bubble come back it is important that the clothes used outside are washed and some of the clean clothes inside the house are put on. The shoes used are also not recommended to enter your home. If it is possible to wash the car, we also recommend this. If they are going to travel by bus then they should always wear a mask and even more meticulously follow a disinfection protocol prior to entering the house.

In summary, in order to practice national tourism in times of COVID, you must have: 1. preparation 2. prevention and finally … 3. fun! Let’s not forget that mental and physical health are vital, and a safe family outing can contribute a lot to the collective health of your family. Currently many places have promotions, so take advantage, take your bubble and let’s get to know Costa Rica!
