The option to work from the comfort of your home, is a modality that has recently gained popularity and has a great advantage. However, in order to get the most out of your workday, you have to know how to build an optimal work environment.
With the following tips you can get a space, confortable and without distractions, that will allow you to perform your tasks efficiently and healthily.
Create the right space to work from home
Ideally, find a room which purpose is exclusively to function as an office to devote 100% to work. It is important to achieve a division between both facets; home life and working life.
Likewise, this room must have certain vital requirements, both for good performance and for good physical and mental health.
Good lighting and ventilation: it is best to always look for a space with natural light, be it a light swallow or large windows that allow air to circulate. And it is also necessary that on the work desk there is a lamp that illuminates the space well. This will avoid forcing your eyesight, especially at night, where the brightness of smart device screens can be harmful in the long term.
- Large space: the appropriate size of the room to work will depend on the work itself, but in general it is recommended for it to not be a space where you get to feel trapped or locked. Having an area with your desk, laptop, books, etc., is indispensable, but so is having a section designed for relaxation and stretching.
- Keep everything in order: an orderly room not only is nice, it also invites you to be in it, and saves you inconveniences such as not finding documents, having an unhealthy area, etc.
Keep distractions out of the working space
While it is important that you feel comfortable and happy in your workspace, it is not advisable to have entertainment items such as TV or video games nearby. Decorating the room with many objects can disperse your attention when doing a task, costing you time and efficiency.
Now, to make the space pleasant you can incorporate some pictures, books, plants, anti stress toys, among others.
Remember also that having your office in a quiet place, where street noises or neighbors can’t disturb you, is importan.
Take breaks
In every work space, employees receive a break time, to eat, clear their minds, etc., and the fact of working from home does not imply that this should be different. Taking breaks between tasks is important for the brain to recover energy and why not to take advantage and get active too!
Stretch, go for a walk, get fresh air! A break does not mean that you will leave the computer work to spend half an hour on the cell phone, this is counterproductive. Changing the environment is good and getting up from the chair is good for your body, stretch your back, arms and neck to avoid muscle discomfort after hours in the office.
Take advantage of the opportunity to work from home and manage to find the balance between the professional and personal fields of your life!
