In recent weeks, Central America has been hit by hurricane ETA with heavy rains, winds, landslides and floods, and Costa Rica was no exception. The families of our coastal communities, specifically Guanacaste (Nicoya, Libera, Santa Cruz, Bagaces, Nandayure and more cities) were affected by this climatic phenomenon and have had to reinvent themselves and go to local shelters. But what they have not lost is the faith that better days will come and you can lend a helping hand to help them through these difficult times.

Currently there are approximately 700 people in shelters, while around 5,500 families have received support from the authorities and their municipal emergency committees to overcome this difficult situation.

How to help?

There are many ways in which you can give a little help from home, which will be well received and can facilitate the day-to-day lives of many families affected by Hurricane ETA.

  • The CNE enabled a form on the website www.cne.go.cr, so that all those companies, people or organizations collaborate with donations of food, hygiene kits and others.
  • The Nosara Civic Association is collecting donations of non-perishable food, clothing and personal hygiene products which can be delivered from different parts of the country. For example
    • At the GAM you can deliver donations to the Twins Vet veterinary, the Hija de Tigre store and the Selina San José hotel, and the Sheyza gas station in Heredia.
    • In Nosara you can send donations to El Orgánico supermarkets, Delicias del Mundo, La Bodega or El Chivo taqueria.

Also if you are interested in making a monetary donation you can make the transfer to the account of the Association of Firefighters of Nosara: (BCR) IBAN number: CR34015201001046436314, legal ID 3-002-756541

Even, we must remember that not only people were affected by the hurricane, ETA has also hurt animals and pets, so you can also help for this cause.

If it is within your means, any support you can give will make a big difference to the quality of life of the accounts of Costa Rican families who are going through tough times. Let’s help others, that everything we do is returned!
