`Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes´Church
The catholic temple of the parish of Grecia is one of the main attractions of this picturesque town.
It was built in 1840, dedicated to the virgin of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes.
It has a Neo-gothic style, and is completely made of iron. This temple is a National monument of Costa Rica. It was built in that material, because of a strong earthquake that destabilized the building prior to this one. Mr. Alejo Jimenez Bonnefil -one of the most important coffee growers of the moment- had contacts in Belgium; where the Belgian factory Ateliers Dressé Aux de la Société de Coulliet, made the structure that today is one of the main characteristics of the people in Grecia.
The foundation of this church was an effort made by the residents of the area, the parish priests of the church and the owners of coffee plantations (which abound in Grecia).

Bosque del niño Forest Reserve
This wonder of nature is located on the slopes of the Poás Volcano, approximately 14 kilometers from the center of the city of Grecia. Its maximum elevation is 225o meters above sea level and with temperatures that range between 8 and 16 Celsius Degrees.
It is one of the few places of recreation in this sector of the country and has great importance in the conservation of water resources in the cities of Grecia, Poás and Valverde Vega
A perfect place for hiking in the middle of nature and a beautiful forest, small waterfalls with easy access. It is recommended to wear hiking clothes in case you decide to visit this places. Besides you may have to pay a symbolic collaboration at the entrance.
