Have you ever wondered what neurological rehabilitation is and why is it important? Possibly not, since this area of health is usually an issue that Costa Ricans neglect. But understanding it in depth can be the key to a better life quality

This is partly the mission of the NeuroFT specialized clinic, founded by Dr. Lisa Riggioni since 2007, in Barrio Escalante and Plaza Itskatzu. This health center focuses on maximizing the physical capabilities of people, through a complete therapeutic support. In order for patients to reach higher levels of independence, health and prevention of sickness.

In Costa Rica there is still a lot to learn about health and it is very important, because there is nothing more satisfying than helping someone achieve their functional independence. And regardless of age, the most important thing is always to have a good life quality.

How is NeuroFT’s treatment different?

The service offered in the clinic is based on two fundamental pillars: the training and knowledge of the team of health specialists and the work perspective, where the focus is on the causes and not on the symptoms, which means that Treat the situation from the root.

They attend from young people to older adults, who present different cases: sports injuries, parkinsons, multiple sclerosis, backaches, strokes, etc. They prioritize getting involved in the patient’s life, knowing what their goals, concerns, etc, are to form a closer relationship, rather than the typical doctor and patient relationship. Because each person is different, as well as the needs, functioning and responses of each body.

In addition, they always seek to encourage teaching their patients. In other words, they explain their condition thoroughly and how to treat it inside and outside the clinic, to have a more optimal recovery.

The treatment aims to go beyond traditional therapy, where the person is treated only during scheduled sessions. In NeuroFT, we seek to give advice to patients on how to create habits in their daily lives, which gradually improve their condition.

Avoiding a sedentary lifestyle, staying physically and cognitively active and learning the right way to move, are the keys to a healthier life.
