At Coronado you will find a picturesque place, which stands out for its colors, its joy and its positive vibe. This is the art and design store “Upeee”, which offers a numerous quantity of products made in Costa Rica

Its very particular name – typical of the “tico” culture – comes from the desire to identify with the national roots and represent that at Upeee, they always receive their clients and partners with open arms, the characteristic feeling of “pura vida”.

The store is currently celebrating its first year in the market and has thrived very well. It is a project with women’s stamp, as it is handled by three exceptional coronadeñas: Ana Barboza, Gabriela Rodríguez and Ivette, who have experience as graphic designers and artisans. They decided to open a place to exhibit and sell their creations.

At the same time, their objective has been to create a pleasant space, so that the residents of the area can find what they need without going as far as San José, and at the same time, support other Costa Rican entrepreneurs.

What I enjoy most is the dealing with people, create a space to live together and form a family with our designers and customers. We want to show that the national products are beautiful and of good quality.

Ana Barboza – Upeee Art and Design Store Co Owner

According to Ana Barboza, the project began as a dream and at the beginning it had its challenges: to be known to the public, to get the participation of brands, to work all three as a team, etc. But the effort has paid off and they already have big plans for the future. Such as attaching a cafeteria-like space and expand to a second floor, to comfortably have workshops.

It is for this reason, that we considers it important to present their testimony, since in Nativu we believe that dreams should be worked on in order to take them to next level.

Till the date, “Upeee” abounds with very colorful and different creations; from clothes, cosmetics and jewelry to books and stuffed animals. There is something for all tastes and the best is that all their brands are national!

Their owners not only set the example of women’s effort and capacity, but also that with the mutual support and collaboration of teamwork, small Costa Rican entrepreneurs can grow together.
