You will be very surprised to know that in Plaza Real Escazú, you can find a restaurant with a stamp of youth entrepreneurship, which has brought to the country a new presentation of pizza: the deep dish. At Picola Pizza Pub, not only will the dishes meet your expectations, the highlight of the place is its vision of solidarity with the community.

And similarly, as in Nativu we believe in the impact of decisions with purpose and in the importance of our communities, we bring you the history of this restaurant, which stands out for its flavors and its commitment to the community.

The values at Picola Pizza Pub

Since 2016, Mariana Bolaños, Saadat Awan and Andy Gutiérrez decided to embark on the adventure of becoming owners of this pizza restaurant.

Mariana Bolaños, Saadat Awan and Andy Gutiérrez tell us a little more about their business.

After each one having experiences as regular employees in different areas, they were struck by the possibility of having greater independence, a pleasant work environment where they could go beyond being “co-workers”, that is, where they could all be friends.

When we decided to start from scratch it was a moment of nerves but a lot of emotion. Taking the risk was worth the effort; We enjoy our work, we are a source of employment and collaboration for others and people like to come to have a different culinary experience, they visit us from all over Costa Rica.

As Mariana explains, taking that turn in their professional lives was a challenge, but it has opened the doors to growth and helping others. With their “donation Wednesday” initiative, 20% of the profits of those days are donated to different charities such as: ALCCI, Fuerza Animalia, Reserva Pacuare, among others.

All three are very committed to the cause and their ideal of being a force for good. They see it as a duty and a privilege to be able to help others with their work.

Their flavors

Apart from their supportive spirit, their dishes are also unique. Their specialty is Chicago’s deep dish style pizza, which has layers of fresh ingredients and a very different flavor than traditional pizzas.

In addition, as their owners are very young people, they also introduces a concept of entertainment, since in the restaurant there are some board games for customers to have a complete experience.

If you want to try a tasty and different meal, with the assurance that the place has a high social conscience, do not miss the opportunity to visit Picola Pizza Pub.
